The School of Engineering in a joint effort with the College of Arts & Sciences recently received notification from NSF that our proposed project, titled "NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)," was funded. Starting this Spring 2007, we will be able to offer about (22) renewable scholarships of up to $5,000 (each) per academic year to students pursuing B.S. degrees in any of the following disciplines:
- Computer Science
- Engineering: Chemical, Civil, Computer, Construction, Electrical,
Mechanical, or Nuclear; and students who have been accepted into the
pre-major engineering program intending to major in Engineering or
Computer Science
- Some science majors in the College of Arts & Sciences.
This scholarship program will be managed by the Engineering Students
Services (ESS) office under my direction, as the project's Principal
Investigator and other CoPIs collaboration: Mark Ondrias (Associate Dean
for the College of Arts & Sciences), Steve Peralta (ESS Director), and
Elsa Castillo, (ESS Student Programs Specialist).
Elsa Castillo, the Scholarship Coordinator, has already distributed
hard copies of the application package and flyer to all the
participating departments. Application information is also available at:

NOTE: This program is an expansion of our NSF-Computer Science,
Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship (CSEMS) Program. The CSEMS
Program offers (30) additional scholarships of up to $3,000 (each) per
academic year- also renewable scholarships. For further information of
